chili, homemade bread, and sign language

I'm learning to sign. It started out as a plan to get ready to teach baby to sign in a few months, but I'm now I'm just into it. Just plain into it. Signs are expressive, they're metaphorical, they're fascinating. I have about 100 cue cards, and it's become an obsession in the last week. My partner thinks its hilarious, but under duress I can get him to quiz me.

Now I'm making veggie chili and homemade cheese bread for dinner, and my best friend and her new man are coming round this afternoon. It's a good, sunny, baby-smiling kind of day.

Count your happy moments, and know them for what they are. Don't look ahead or behind. Don't plan your joys...name them when they arrive on your doorstep.
